What is "CRI ADX"?
"CRI ADX" is a powerful multi-streaming system and provides audio compression features.  While playing back music, it can play back talking voice or read game data as well. 

Parallel Playback of Independent Files
Music playback and data reading from a disc can be executed independently and asynchronously.  You can read any type of data, from audio data to graphics or programs.

Audio Codec for Games  (High Quality, Low CPU Load)
The ADX audio codec provides CD audio quality using minimal CPU load.  Also, our disc access technology achieves quick response time required for interactive games.

Seamless Loop Playback Requires No MIDI Environment
With our original buffer control technology, it's possible to playback arbitrary audio sequences in a seamless loop.  Previously, this playback was only possible with MIDI sound sequences. 
ADX allows repeated playback of arbitrary intervals in general wave data.  You can create arbitrary looped digital audio sequences, without staying with MIDI environment. 


 
Features
(1) Multi-Stream Playback
 Multiple audio files can be played back at the same time.  For example, stream playback of long music data on a disc and playback of a talking voice (other long data) on a disc can be performed simultaneously.

(2) Data Reading in Parallel with Stream Playback 
 Performing stream playback of ADX data, it can also read other data files such as graphics data concurrently.

(3) Indexed Playback
 A large collection of sound clips can be concatenated into a single indexed file. 
By specifying the index number, very large numbers of voice samples can be played back. 

(4) Seamless Loop Playback
 Seamless loop playback that has been possible only under a MIDI environment is now available with the wave data.  It's possible to synthesize new sequences of digital audio data with the flexibility of MIDI audio sequences.

(5) Seamless Continuous Playback
 Multiple files can be played back continuously. 
 Playback can be synchronized to game play events.  Playback order or talking voice can be mixed dynamically.

(6) ADX File System
 The ADX File System provides easy-to-use APIs which can perform multi-stream processing for various kinds of data such as graphics and programs. 

(7) Cinematic Sound
 ADX Cinematic Sound controls the volume of voices versus background music or other sounds in a scene. Background sound volume is lowered automatically when dialogue is spoken, and the volume returns to the previous setting when dialogue is complete. Additionally, multiple music tracks can be smoothly, automatically cross-faded.

(8) Audio Compression for Every Need 

High Quality Mode(ADX)

 CD audio quality, but it only uses approximately 0.5 % of CPU load.
 Suitable for music playback.

High Compression Mode(AHX)

 At the rate of 32 to 64kbps, it achieves higher audio quality than MP3. 
 Suitable for voice playback. 

(9) Game Oriented Tuning
 Other audio compression formats have widely variable CPU requirements and widely variable latencies.  Changes in codec latency or CPU consumption can radically affect the performance of your game.  However, ADX and AHX have low, predictable resource requirements.
